Last name origin & meaning: Japanese: meaning ‘shallow plain’; probably derived from two places
of that name, one in Mino (now southern Gifu prefecture), the other in
Owari (now Nagoya prefecture). Both families descend from the
Minamoto clan through the Toki family.
