  • Polish (Krasiński) : habitational name for someone from Krasne in Ciechanów voivodeship, named with a derivative of krasny ‘beautiful’.
  • Ukrainian, Belorussian, and Jewish (eastern Ashkenazic) : habitational name from any of various places in Ukraine, and Belarus called Krasnaya, Krasna, or Krasnoe (cognate with the Polish name). Compare Krasner.
  • This is the surname of a very large and well-known Polish family, with numerous branches, the oldest of which can be traced back to the 15th century. The Romantic poet Zygmunt Krasiński (1812–59) was a member of this family.
